The bird is identifiable by its huge feet and claws which
enable it to walk on floating vegetation in the shallow lakes that are inhabit
ted by it. They are mainly black although the inner wings are dark brown. The
bird also has a striking white eye stripe with a yellow bill. Young birds have
brown upperparts with white underparts and a buff fore neck. The bird lays four
brown eggs with black marks in a floating nest. The males are responsible for
incubation.

Woolly Necked Stork
Woolly-necked Stork or White necked stork ( Ciconia episcopus )
A bird of the wetlands, the woolly-necked stork is a large bird with a distinct white neck and a glistening black back. It builds a large stick nest in a tree, laying 2-5 eggs. Like all storks, the bird feeds on amphibians, small reptiles and large insects.Photographed at the Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur, India in the month of November.
