The Czech Republic has a long history of puppetry and marionettes and have been a part of Czech tradition since the middle of the 18th century. These are hand carved puppets and usually made of lime wood. In Prague, you will find them in the narrow streets leading to the Astronomical Clock from Charles Bridge where a number of small shops with puppets hanging outside are located. These have an incredible variety of marionettes in different sizes and figures. The older ones - particularly those from the last century carry an extremely steep price. It is however possible to buy interesting marionettes at fairly reasonable prices - hard bargaining would however be required.

The marionettes in Czech Republic looks a little different than what we have here in the Philippines. We would like to see a Marionette show there some day! :)
